Earlier this morning, CUAUV competed in the first round of static judging. Focusing on the design of the vehicle, this portion of the competition consists of a 15 minute presentation given to two groups of judges. Cornell's second round of static judging will take place later this afternoon. 20 Teams Pre-Qualify for AUVSI CompetitionSubmitted by prteam on Fri, 08/01/2008 - 02:13.
CUAUV will compete against 20 teams in the qualifying rounds of the AUVSI competition for a spot in the Sunday Finals. By being the first team to pre-qualify, CUAUV got first pick of qualifying round time slots. Triton will be executing its run at 3:30 pm PST. After a successful morning practice test where the vehicle autonomously completed pipe and buoy missions, CUAUV mounted the hydrophone. As part of the competition, the hydrophone will sense an acoustic pinger, retrieve the safe, and then surface in the proper recovery zone. After encountering a problem with the thrusters during day one of practice, CUAUV made some fixes and tested out Triton in the evening at the hotel pool. The team also successfully tested search patterns and the new horizontal forward facing grabber. |
